Artisans arraigned for allegedly stealing building materials worth N7.3m

Ibadan, Dec.12, 2025 (NAN) The Police on Friday, charged three artisans before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, for allegedly stealing building materials valued at N7.3million.

The defendants, Abubakar Ibrahim, 37, Oketayo Taiye , 39, and Adetife Kazeem, 47, were charged on two- counts bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Sikiru Opaleye, told the court that the defendants and others at large allegedly conspired to commit the offence between January to November, at new Akala expressway, in Elebu, Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendants stole iron rods, planks and other building materials valued at N7.3 million belonging to his employer one Mr Oyeniyi Durojaye.

He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 383 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State 2000.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendants bails in the sum of N1.5million each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Ogunkanmi ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relative to the defendants.

She adjourned the case until March 25, 2026 for hearing. (NAN )(www.nannews.ng)
