Uyo, Dec 16, 2025 (NAN) Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, on Tuesday inaugurated 1.4km internal roads at the headquarters of the police command in the state.
Speaking during the exercise at Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, Eno promised to install lighting facilities at police stations across the state.
Eno used the occasion to commend the security agencies in the state for their tireless efforts towards maintaining peace, law and order.
“Your support has been massive. You work tirelessly to create a conducive environment for sustainable development and progress.
“Without the work that you do, we won’t have the peace we enjoy today. You are doing quite a fantastic job, and we are greatly appreciative,” he said.
He said that the installation of lighting facilities at police stations across the state would support the force in tackling crime.
Eno commended the Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare for his commitment to effective service delivery.
The governor also commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for approving the location of a Counter Terrorism Unit in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of the state.
Earlier Azare commended the governor for giving priority attention to security, peace and unity in the state.
Azare also thanked Eno for his support to the police and other security agencies in the state, saying,”your support to the command has been remarkably consistent and impactful”
The police chief described the internal roads constructed by the state government as strategic assets that would significantly enhance mobility, response time, operational efficiency, and overall effectiveness of the command.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
