Graduation

Kaduna, Dec. 18, 2025 (NAN) The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) on Thursday graduated 300 recruits in Kaduna, with a charge on them to uphold discipline and integrity in the serve of country.
The Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, gave the charge at the Passing-Out Parade and Graduation Ceremony of the 241 Basic Recruit Course.
Nwakuche said the recruits underwent six months of intensive physical, academic, psychological and ethical training to prepare them for correctional duties.
“You have gone through demanding training to equip you for the responsibility of national service,” he said,
Represented by DCG Umar Galadima, commended the recruits for their resilience and commitment.
He said the graduation aligned with reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving security and institutional efficiency.
According to him, the Ministry of Interior had the begun the full implementation of the Performance Management System (PMS) across paramilitary agencies to strengthen accountability and performance.
“The PMS is not punitive; it is designed to reward competence, measurable performance and service delivery,” he said.
Nwakuche stated that the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, 2019, had modernised correctional operations through the integration of custodial and non-custodial measures.
He warned the graduates that the service had zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption and unprofessional conduct, urging strict adherence to the act and service’s Standing Orders.
