Ibadan, Dec. 18, 2025 (NAN) Gov. Seyi Makinde on Thursday inaugurated Omololu Olunloyo Leisure Park situated on Airport Road, Alakia, Ibadan.
Makinde who was represented at the occasion by his deputy, Mr Bayo Lawal, said the newly built tourism park would serve as a rich cultural heritage preservation.
He noted that the facilities and artefacts at the park would help residents and visitors learn more about the peculiarity and the geopolitical zones of the state.
The governor noted that the new relaxation park, which sprang out of an abandoned site was built to immortalise Dr Olunloyo and appreciate his contributions to the state and Nigeria as a whole.
He described Olunloyo as a brainy and outstanding personality.
“This park is unique in many respects. We have some cherished artefacts here that symbolise our culture and tradition in Oyo State — from Ibarapa to Oke Ogun to Ogbomosho and Ibadan.
“All these will make us always put our culture into cognisance,” he said.
Makinde urged the prospective users of the relaxation park to ensure its maintenance and use it strictly for the purposes it is meant for.
Mr Mojeed Mogbonjubola, state Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, said the park was another major milestone in Gov. Makinde’s efforts to redefine Ibadan’s skyline and add beauty to the fast-developing metropolis.
Mogbonjubola said the project was designed to serve as a centre for leisure, history and culture.
He added that it would boost Ibadan’s aesthetics and showcase the governor’s focus on urban development. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
