Jos, Dec. 19, 2025 (NAN) A Magistrates’ Court in Jos on Friday sentenced a 23-year-old trader, Moses Pam, to 30 months’ imprisonment for stealing home appliances valued at N420,000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati, sentenced the convict, who pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of trespass, housebreaking and theft.

Pati sentenced Pam to six months’ imprisonment for trespass, 12 months for housebreaking and 12 months for theft, all to run concurrently.

She, however, gave the convict an option of an N80,000 fine.

She also ordered the convict to pay N120,000 as compensation for the unrecovered home theatre.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Daniel Damulak, told the court that the complainant, Mr Ishaya Zhacom, reported the case on July 20 at the Anglo-Jos Police Station.

Damulak said the convict broke into the complainant’s house and stole one smart television, two home theatre sets, curtains and bedsheets, all valued at N420,000.

He said the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
