Damaturu, Dec 21, 2025 (NAN) The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) says the North East Development Commission’s (NEDC) enormous support to pastoralists will assist in addressing security challenges in the region.

Alhaji Khalid Muhammad, the association’s National President stated this in a statement in Damaturu on Sunday.

Muhammad made the prediction while commending the commission for recently installing solar-powered boreholes in Dangel Lantaiwa and Siddikiyo Jauro Gambo Ribadu wards of Yobe and Gombe states, respectively.

“These projects provide a vital lifeline to thousands of pastoralists and their livestock, addressing the critical challenge of water scarcity in the concentration centres.

“KACRAN acknowledges that the NEDC stands out as a model of responsive governance. The Commission has demonstrated a genuine determination to alleviate suffering and enhance social services beyond standard expectations,” he said.

The president advocated for more inclusion of livestock development in the NEDC 2026 policies, projects and programmes to ensure that pastoralists benefit equitably alongside other residents of the region.

“We are pleased to note the commission’s positive reaction to this appeal.

“This willingness to listen to complaints and adjust programmes reflects the sterling leadership qualities of the current management, and also we applaud the consistency of the NEDC in prioritizing projects that foster peace and unity,” Muhammad said.

He called on the Federal Government to ensure that adequate funds were provided to the commission in the 2026 budget to execute its mandate.

He noted that the synergy between the NEDC, North-East Governors, local government chairmen, security agencies and traditional rulers would be instrumental to rapid reconstruction and rehabilitation of the region from the more than a decade-old insurgency.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
