Uyo, Dec. 22, 2025 (NAN) The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has urged youths in Akwa Ibom to embrace peace, and shun negative behaviours during the festive season.
NOA Director in Akwa Ibom, Mr Mkpoutom Mkpoutom, made the call in an interview with newsmen in Uyo on Monday.
Mkpoutom said that the Christmas and New Year celebrations should not be used for involvement in criminal activities, but to promote love, peace and unity in communities.
The state director said that the season presented humans with a moment to unwind and extend goodwill to one another.
“Let’s use the period to enjoy ourselves and support others, let’s avoid unlawful acts, let’s make it a peaceful season.
“Let this year’s festive season be remembered for kindness and responsible celebration rather than lawlessness and violence,” he said.
Mkpoutom used the opportunity to urge residents of Akwa Ibom to reflect on the true meaning and essence of Christmas.
“Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, a figure that symbolises peace and goodwill. Let’s reflect on His teachings, let’s encourage compassion, forgiveness and kindness.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
