Birnin Kebbi, Dec. 22, 2025 (NAN) President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi, have extended humanitarian support to Kebbi branch of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) through the donation of 4,800 bags of rice in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tinubu donated 1,200 bags of 50kg rice under the Renewed Hope Agenda, while, Gov. Idris shared 3,600 bags of 25kg of rice to CAN for the Yuletide.
Receiving the items on Monday in Birnin Kebbi, the CAN Chairman in the state, Dr Ayuba Kanta, expressed gratitude to God and commended both the president and the governor.
The chairman, represented by the CAN Secretary, Hussaini Bara-Bauta, described the gesture as a testiment to the duo’s compassion and commitment to the welfare of citizens.
Kanta said the country had recorded notable improvements in economic prospects under the Tinubu administration, while Gov. Idris had enhanced the quality of life of people in the state.
He said the rice would be distributed to Christians across the state’s 21 local government areas to enable them celebrate the festive season joyfully.
“The targeted beneficiaries to share the rice include Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), widows, orphans, youths, women groups, elders, Boys’ Brigade members and other beneficiaries.
“Christians have never had it so good. The goodwill shown by President Tinubu is immeasurable, while in Kebbi, Gov. Idris has continued to demonstrate compassion and magnanimity towards the Christian community,” he said.
Kanta added that the country was witnessing gradual improvements in economic stability, security and citizens’ welfare, attributing the progress to purposeful leadership at both the federal and state levels.
“Nigeria is becoming a better place to live.
“We pray that Almighty God grants the president and the governor good health, courage and wisdom to lead the nation to greater heights,” he prayed.
The CAN chairman called on individuals and groups fueling insecurity to desist from such acts and embrace peace, while advising them to uphold spiritual values above material pursuits.
“Nigeria is a diverse, multi-cultural society. We must shun unwholesome attitudes, sinful dispositions and unlawful behaviour, and work together as one united people to salvage our nation.
“Let me urge those perpetuating insecurity to have a change of heart to allow peace and tranquillity to prevail in the country,” he advised. (NAN)(www.nannews.bg)
