Abeokuta, Dec. 23, 2025 (NAN) The Ogun Police Command says it has deployed joint forces, operational assets and a large number of personnel along major highways and strategic locations in the state.
This is as the command said the deployment was meant to safeguard lives and property during the yuletide season.
The Spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abeokuta.
Babaseyi said the deployment was in collaboration with the Lagos and Oyo State Police Commands, the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other sister security agencies.
He said the joint operation involved the deployment of patrol vehicles, tactical teams and intelligence assets, particularly along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, to deter criminal activities.
According to him, special attention is being given to strategic routes, including the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode road, to ensure the safe movement of people and goods before, during and after the festive period.
The Spokesperson said the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered the massive deployment of personnel for traffic control and other operational duties during and after the celebrations.
He assured residents that the security operations would continue throughout and beyond the Yuletide season.
He reiterated that the use of fireworks and bangers remained banned in the interest of public safety and urged residents to celebrate responsibly as well as cooperate with security personnel.
He, however, urged members of the public to report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines, including the Gateway Shield toll-free line 0800 000 9111 (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
