NEMA distributes relief materials to Taraba flood victims

Jalingo, Dec. 23, 2025 (NAN) The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), on Tuesday, distributed relief materials to flood victims in Jalingo and Yorro Local Government Areas of Taraba.
In a speech to formally launch the distribution of the materials to individuals and communities, the Director General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, said that the items were meant to bring succour to the victims.
Umar, represented by the Assistant Chief Search and Rescue, Yola Operation Office, Mr Yusuf Attach, said that the gesture was part of the government’s response to the incidents of floods that affected the people of the area.
She said that the provision of food and non-food items to victims was another demonstration of concern and President Bola Tinubu’s sensitivity to the plight of Nigerians.
She advised the victims to put the items to good use, saying that they were expected to cushion the effect of the flood on them.
In a remark, Rep. Sadiq Abass, representing Jalingo, Zing, Yorro Federal Constituency, commended Tinubu for the quick intervention to the plight of his constituents.
Abass, represented by Alhaji Saad Sambo, a Senior Legislative Officer to the Speaker, House of Representatives, said that the intervention was part of the vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu’s administration.
He appealed to the beneficiaries not to see the intervention as compensation but a demonstration towards responding to their plight.
He also described the gesture as a demonstration of the government’s humanitarian services and welfare for the people.
He expressed his determination to continue to provide “ideal representation” for the people.
He advised the benefiaries not to sell the items but use them as support to their families.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr David Musa, thanked the Federal Government for the intervention.
Musa also commended Abass for ensuring that they received the relief materials.
He said that the item’s would go along way in reducing their hardship during the Yuletide celebrations.
Another beneficiary, Mariam Isa, commended both the Federal Government and Abbas for the relief materials.
Isa gave an assurance that she would not sell her items but utilise them to support her family.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items included bags of rice, maize, salt, cartons of maggi, tomato paste, vegetable oil, blankets, and clothes, amongst others. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
