Sango-Ota (Ogun), Jan.10, 2026 (NAN) Dr Samuel Nzekwe, a financial expert, has advised the Federal Government to make emphatic efforts to further transform the nation’s health sector in 2026.
This, he said, was with a view to curbing medical tourism by Nigerians.
Nzekwe, also a former President, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN ), gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Ota.
The financial expert noted that the advice became necessary as many Nigerians still traveled to countries like; United State of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK), China, India, among others to receive medical treatment.
“We need to develop our economy, especially the health sector, because the country is losing millions of dollars through capital freight to foreign medical treatment.
“Also, transforming our health sector to a world class will not only reduce capital freight but also create job opportunities for the youth, reduce pressure on demands for dollars and attract patients from other countries,” he said.
Nzekwe called on the federal government to create an enabling environment for health personnel to practice their profession with ease to reduce brain drain in the country.
He also advocated for more fund allocation to the sector to facilitate establishment of more health facilities across the country. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
