Reforms

Lafia, Dec. 10, 2025 (NAN) Dr Labaran Magaji, The Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, says the bold reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu have helped stabilise Nigeria’s economy and reposition the country on the path of sustainable growth.
Magaji stated this in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Lafia while assessing the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the state.
He said President Tinubu assumed office with clear vision and strong political will, which enabled him to take tough decisions necessary to revive the economy and improve the living standards of Nigerians.
Magaji, who is also the Renewed Hope Ambassador for Nasarawa State, described the removal of fuel subsidy as one of the most important reforms undertaken by the administration.
“The removal of fuel subsidy is one reform many people consider harsh, but it had eaten deep into the fabric of our economy.
“Taking that courageous step is already yielding positive results, and the development we are witnessing across the country today is a direct outcome of that policy direction,” he said.
The SSG noted that the increase in federal allocation to states, driven by proceeds from subsidy removal and other fiscal adjustments, has enabled states to execute capital projects that were previously unattainable.
He cited Tinubu’s approval for the upgrade of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital as a major boost to healthcare delivery in Nasarawa State under the renewed hope health reforms.
Magaji added that the administration’s economic and security reforms had contributed to stabilising the foreign exchange market and improving national security.
He said that Gov. Abdullahi Sule had aligned Nasarawa State with the Renewed Hope Agenda, leveraging improved revenue inflows to execute major infrastructure projects.
According to him, projects such as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Interchange, Shendam Road dualisation, State Secretariat complex, and the Keffi Flyover and Underpass were made possible through increased federal allocation.
“The Akwanga underpass and the recent groundbreaking for two flyovers in Mararaba to ease traffic congestion are also products of the increased revenue from subsidy removal,” he added.
Magaji said that the governor had recently approved the construction of one-kilometre road in each of the 13 local government areas, in line with efforts to deepen development across communities.
He emphasised that the Sule administration had transformed Nasarawa from a civil service-dominated state into a fast-growing industrial and agrarian hub attracting unprecedented investor interest.
“In no distant time, Mr President will visit Nasarawa State to commission one of the biggest lithium processing plants in Africa. These are some of the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda that our people need to appreciate,” he said.
Magaji described his appointment as Renewed Hope Ambassador as a call to national service, noting that a state-wide mobilisation structure was being developed to engage citizens, especially the youth.
He said that 4,410 young people had been enrolled as volunteers across the 147 wards to help disseminate information on federal and state government programmes.
On the national and state branding development project, he said the initiative seeks to promote home-grown products and encourage patronage of Nigeria-made goods to stimulate economic growth.
Magaji urged residents of Nasarawa State to continue supporting President Tinubu and Gov. Sule as they work to deliver more dividends of democracy under the Renewed Hope Agenda. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
