CPPE sets agenda for new petroleum regulators
Nigeria’s new petroleum regulators must prioritize domestic refining and production growth to achieve energy sovereignty and industrialization. This requires creating a protected policy environment that favors local refiners over imports to ensure fair competition and secure long-term economic interests. Simultaneously, accelerating crude output to at least two million barrels per day is critical to capitalize on remaining hydrocarbon opportunities amid the global energy transition. The success of this reset hinges on aligning all regulatory actions with a definitive “Nigeria-First” industrial agenda.
