Owerri, Dec. 25, 2025 (NAN) Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo, has urged Nigerians to radiate compassion and love as they celebrate Christmas.

Uzodimma gave the advice in his Christmas message delivered at the 2025 Christmas Carol held at Orlu on Wednesday.

The governor said that Christmas transcends the annual rituals of festivities, social gatherings and joyous reunions of kits and kins.

“It is more importantly, a season of deep spiritual introspection of our faith and shared values that define our humanity.

“This Christmas, let us radiate compassion; remember the less privileged and vulnerable in our midst.

“Let us be true ambassadors of Christ-like love,” he said.

The governor also urged political leaders and Nigerians to emulate the simplicity of Christ.

According to him, the season challenges those of us in authority to wield power in the same humility Christ exercised with divine authority.

He said “as practicing Christians, we must try to be more than nominal Christians, who live the gospel we profess.”

He expressed delight that this year’s Christmas was celebrated with less economic pressure, noting that prices of commodities and essentials had reduced drastically.

“These are practical evidences that the leadership is not confused.

“We agree that reforms come with pains, but we are begining to see practical benefits, restoring public confidence in the government,” he noted.

The governor urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, who had been transparent from onset, adding that his administration would be necessary for national revival.

He commended Imo residents for their steadfast support and prayers which he said had led to great successes over the past five years.

While attributing his achievements to the express grace of God, he reiterated his willingness to continue to serve with humility and sense of responsibility.

Earlier, the Anglican Bishop of Orlu Diocese, Rt. Rev.  Benjamin Okeke,  urged Christians to spread the message of the birth of Jesus Christ and proclaim the redemption his coming brought to the world.

Okeke further called for continuous prayers and support for the nation’s leaders.

Highlight of the event was the melodious rendition of Christmas songs by a number of choir groups, and intercessory prayers for the State, by various Church leaders.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
