Convict bags 2 years imprisonment for causing grievous harm

Abuja, Dec.19, 2025 (NAN) A Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, on Friday, sentenced a 22-year-old man, Hamed Musa, to a term of two years imprisonment for causing grievous hurt to a complainant.
Musa who resides at Galadima in Gwarinpa Abuja, was charged with causing grievous hurt to a complainant.
He had pleaded guilty to the charge and had begged the court to show mercy.
In his verdict, the Magistrate, Mr Musa Jobbo, sentenced the convict to a term of two years imprisonment, without an option of fine.
The court also warned the convict to desist from crime after serving his sentence.
In the charge, the prosecutor, Mrs Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that a complainant one Mr Suleman Tuker of the same address, reported the matter at the Galadima police station on Dec. 3.
She said that a misunderstanding had ensued between the complainant and the convict on the same date, which led to a fight.
She told the court that in the process, the convict used a shape knife to inflict grievous injuries on the body of the complainant.
The prosecutor told the court that the complainant raised alarm and called for help from people who rushed to the scene and caught the convict
According to her, the complainant was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment, which caused about N120, 000.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation and interrogation, the convict made a confessional statement.
The offence contravenes the provision of section 383 of the Penal Code. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
