Ilorin, Dec. 20, 2025 (NAN) The Worthy Life Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) has donated food items to 20 widows in Kwara in the spirit of Christmas.
Mrs Oluwatoyin Abayomi Executive Director of the Foundation, presenting the food items o the women on Saturday in Ilorin, said “the ‘food charity packs’ represents more than food, it carries a message of hope.”
Mrs Abayomi said that it was an expression of care, solidarity, and respect and to remind them that they are loved, valued, and worthy.
She said being a widow for the past 10 years has made her understand the journey of widowhood, which the foundation seeks to bridge the gap.
”We know that they have children to take care of and then we know that there’s a lot going on in the society, and they are faced with different challenges.
”So, what we do is just little, to give them hope, to make them know that they are not alone, especially at this season; to make sure that they are all remembered,” Abayomi said.
The Worthy Life Foundation boss tasked the widows on perseverance and commended their courage in the face of their challenges.
”To our dear widows present here today, we see your strength, we honor your journey, and we embrace you with compassion.
”Your courage in the face of loss is remarkable, and today is about letting you know that you are not forgotten and never alone.
”Today, we are nourishing not just bodies, but spirits; reminding every woman here that her life has value and purpose,” she said.

WLF Board Director, Pastor Abel Aiyedogbon, said that the one of the objectives of the foundation was to care for the less privileged through the help received from donors and supporters.
He said that helping widows, who are vulnerable, would go a long way in giving them a little succour
Aiyedogbon appealed to government and private individuals on helping vulnerable people, one way or the other, through the provisions of food items and other needed items.
Another board member, Mr Adeolu Otegbola said that giving charity was a wake up call for everyone to be compassionate and be their brother’s keeper.
”Naturally, as human beings, we should be compassionate and mindful of our neighbors.
”Animals in the bush recognise and help themselves if they are danger. How much more human beings.
”So, I implore other well to do in the society to look back and help, and not wait for them to beg for things,” he said.
Some of the women who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) commended the foundation for finding them worthy of such charity.
Mrs Victoria Kolade appreciated the foundation for fulfilling the wishes of their donors to put smiles on the faces of the widows.
