Epe (Lagos State), Dec. 13, 2025 (NAN) Mr Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State, has assured residents of robust security during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Olowa gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe on Saturday.

He said the council had activated comprehensive measures to protect lives and property before, during and after the festive season.

According to him, security agencies are collaborating closely with the local government to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Yuletide.

“We have put structures in place to guarantee safety for residents, visitors and businesses during the celebrations,” Olowa said.

He explained that inter-agency cooperation had been strengthened to improve intelligence sharing and coordinated patrols.

The chairman listed the Police, Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Civil Defence and other agencies as partners in the security arrangement.

He said surveillance had been intensified across major roads, markets, recreational centres and places of worship.

Olowa noted that security personnel would be visibly deployed to strategic locations to deter criminal activities.

“Residents will see more patrols, checkpoints and rapid response teams across the local government,” he said.

He added that emergency response units would remain on standby to address any security incidents promptly.

The chairman urged residents and visitors to go about their celebrations without fear or anxiety.

He, however, stressed the need for vigilance and cooperation with security agencies at all times.

“Security is a collective responsibility, and everyone must play their part,” Olowa said.

He advised residents to promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security post.

Olowa appealed to community leaders to support security efforts by sensitising residents within their domains.

He also cautioned motorists to obey traffic regulations and avoid speeding or reckless driving during the festivities.

According to him, traffic management officials would be deployed to ensure free flow of traffic across busy routes.

He warned that offenders would be sanctioned in line with existing laws.

Olowa reaffirmed his commitment to policies and initiatives that strengthen security and promote public safety in Lagos State. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
