Ibadan, Dec. 20, 2025 (NAN)Alhaja Mojisola Latinwo, ‘Iyaloja’ at the Omi Adio market in Oyo State, has urged the state government to expedite the handover of shops at the newly built ultra-modern market.
She also call for installation of a solar power system to ensure steady electricity supply.
Latinwo, the women market leader ‘Iyaloja’, who made the appeal in Ibadan on Saturday, commended Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for constructing the modern market for traders.
Latinwo said that the market, when fully operational, would boost trading activities, as the shops were equipped with modern facilities to make buying and selling more convenient for traders and customers.
“Our governor made a promise and kept it. This is unprecedented in the history of Omi Adio market and for this we are immensely grateful to the government of Oyo State,” she said.
Latinwo also appealed to the government to hasten the process of allocating and handing over the shops so that traders could move in by January 2026.
According to her, early handover will enable traders to begin the new year in the new market and relocate from their current location, which is prone to flooding.
Latinwo further called for the installation of solar power in the market to complement public electricity supply, which she described as epileptic in the area.
“The new market has facilities that include potable water, a fire station and toilets, and these are vital to our convenience in the market.
“But having solar energy will also make life more comfortable for us. So, we are asking the government to help us install this as well,” she said.
She expressed optimism that the ultra-modern market would boost economic activities in Omi Adio and improve the welfare of traders once fully operational. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
