Kuliyin Jiwa pledges to promote justice in Jiwa community

Abuja, Dec.12, 2025(NAN) A prominent member of Jiwa Emirate Council, Federal Capital Territory, Dr Balarabe Ahmad, has pledged support for legal awareness and access to justice within the community.
In a statement issued by his Technical Assistant, Dr Kazeem Abubaker, on Friday in Abuja, Ahmad promised to advice on frameworks that promote peaceful resolution of disputes.
Abubaker quoted him as making the pledge while being conferred with the traditional title of Kuliyan Jiwa by the Jiwa Emirate Council under the leadership of Idris Musa.
The title recognises Ahmad’s distinction as a legal practitioner and scholar, which translates as the “Pinnacle of the Law.”
He further pledged to encourage youth empowerment and entrepreneurship through mentorship and legal guidance, while deploying his knowledge of law and business administration to foster development.
He also promised to bring his knowledge of law, business administration, and alternative dispute resolution to bear on the development of the Emirate, and the broader FCT community.
The title serves as a clear indication of the Council’s intention to strengthen the linkage between customary institutions and the contemporary legal framework.
He said this strategic reinforcement was critical for addressing matters related to land tenure, commerce, youth development, and communal harmony.
“Accordingly, representatives of the Jiwa Emirate Council submitted that the holder of the title of Kuliyan Jiwa must possess virtuous character traits.
“The title is reserved only for individuals whose professional standing and moral character embody justice, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to the rule of law.
“The Kuliyan Jiwa’s Technical Assistant noted the Kuliyan’s elevation underscores the growing role of professionals in strengthening traditional governance structures,’’ the statement read in part.
The traditional ruler holds a Doctorate in Business Administration and is the Principal Partner and Head of Chambers at B.Z Ahmad & Co., Legal Practitioners and ADR Consultants. (NAN)
