Man, 24, arraigned over alleged intent to steal

Sango-Ota (Ogun), Dec.10, 2025 (NAN) A 24-year-old man, Johnson Emmanuel, was on Wednesday, charged before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly entering into an uncompleted building with intent to steal.
Emmanuel, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on charges bordering on attempt to steal.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov.12, at about 6.00 a.m. at Pavillion Estate, in Ilogbo road, Ota.
He alleged that the defendant entered into an uncompleted building, belonging to one Mr Timothy Faleru, a nominal complainant, with intent to steal from the property.
He alleged that the defendant however, ran out of luck as he was caught by a vigilance group and handed over to the police.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravenes the provisions of section 509 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O.Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
She ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
Shee adjourned the case until Dec.22, for hearing.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
