Yenagoa, Dec. 10, 2025 (NAN) The Niger Delta Micro Small Medium Enterprise (NDMSME) on Wednesday gave business support grants worth N3 million to three young entrepreneurs in Bayelsa.
The fifth edition of the grant entitled “Enhancing the Role of MSME’s as Drivers for Sustainable Growth and Innovation” was held in Yenegoa, Bayelsa.
Ochuko Richard, CEO Dear Consultant; Blessing Asokomeh, CEO Tak Hair Academy; and Ala Vanessa, CEO Ala Gaps all got the sum of one million naira each as a startup pack to grow their businesses.
Speaking, Gov. Douye Diri of Bayelsa said that with the world population of about 7.5 billion people, resources of the earth are diminishing and that only those who act and work smart could survive.
The governor was represented at the occasion by Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government.
He traced the historical trajectory of industrial revolutions noting that the current dispensation was being powered by knowledge, Artificial Intelligence, internet and biotechnology amongst others.
Diri said that only people who are able to create order amidst chaos could survive, and urged the entrepreneurs to be intentional to create such order.
“The Bayelsa Government has been supporting MSME’s, in recent years, to foster the culture of entrepreneurship,” he said.
Mr Moses Siasia, the Chairman Heritage Group and founder Niger Delta MSMEs, said wealth is not all about acquisition of money, properties or material things, but about the amount of lives one was able to touch.
He said that he had empowered critical young business owners across the Niger Delta over the years.
He said the support for youths in entrepreneurship was achieved through partnership with the Federal Government and banks.
“We have given over 650 grants to support young business people across the Niger Delta, who in turn have created over 20,000 jobs for the people.
“These people would have joined social vices or been involved in drug abuse.
“These young people hold the keys to the future and the destiny of the region lies in their hands,” Siasia said
He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to continue to work constructively to bring the change needed in the Niger region, while asking that all hands must be on deck. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
