Lagos, Dec.16, 2025 (NAN) The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos Command, has launched a statewide grassroots engagement to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across its 50 divisions.

The initiative implements the 2024 CNAI National Protection Policy and Strategy approved by President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking at a management meeting in Lagos, the state commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, said engagement began with a coordination summit directed by the Office of the National Security Adviser.

He said the Corps was tasked to collaborate with stakeholders to safeguard assets and infrastructure vital to national safety, stability and economic wellbeing.

Keshinro said divisional officers were directed to cascade the engagement to grassroots stakeholders to curb vandalism and other threats.

Participants include asset owners and operators, traditional rulers, government agencies, religious bodies, market leaders, unions, associations, the NYCN and the National Orientation Agency.

According to him, the engagement begins on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, and will run statewide until the end of March 2026.

He said Lagos hosts critical assets including seaports, airports, energy facilities, telecoms hubs, financial institutions and major transport corridors.

“These assets require serious attention and protection, a responsibility the Corps continues to uphold,” he said.

The meeting was attended by management members, area commanders, divisional officers, and operations and tactical commanders across the state. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
