Ibadan,  Dec. 12, 2025(NAN) The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, and other dignitaries will receive fellowship awards at the 40th convocation ceremony of the Polytechnic, Ibadan.

The Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Taiwo Lasisi, said this during a news conference heralding the institution’s convocation ceremony scheduled for Dec. 12 and 19.

Represented by his deputy, Mrs Olaide Salawu, the rector noted that the event would also feature an exhibition of innovative projects by the students to showcase their creativity and ingenuity in various disciplines.

He said that the convocation lecture titled “Legal Frameworks and Strategies for Addressing Terrorism, Banditry and Insurgency in Nigeria: A Multidimensional Approach” would be delivered by a legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Muyiwa Akinboro.

Speaking on the achievements of his administration since assuming office in March 2024, the rector noted that he had been able to re-accredit courses due for accreditation.

“In April this year, the institution presented a total of 42 courses for accreditation to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

” The good news is that the institution succeeded in all the programmes and recorded 100 per cent success.

“The institution was also granted approval to mount new programmes.

” Some of the courses include National Diploma (ND) in Food Science and Technology, Transport Planning and Management, Crime Management, and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Science Laboratory Technology, and Fashion Design and Clothing Technology.

“No doubt, we have been doing excellently well in the area of accreditation, along with others, which can be attributed to the maximum support from Gov. Seyi Makinde,” he said.

The rector added that the school management had been able to maintain strong discipline among staff and students.

He noted that the strengthened disciplinary network had discouraged misconduct by staff and students.

“Among students in particular, activities that smeared the image of the institution in the past, such as cultism and hooliganism, have been tackled effectively by this administration.

“We have also been able to maintain cordial relationships between management and staff on the one hand, and between management and students on the other, and thus resolve issues amicably that would have resulted in industrial action by staff or riots by the students,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Makinde, who also doubles as the visitor to the institution alongside other eminent personalities, is expected to grace the convocation ceremony.(NAN) www.nannews.ng
