Abuja, Dec. 16, 2025 (NAN) Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, has called for strengthened security collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to address evolving security challenges in the state and the wider North Central region.

This is contained in a statement by the Director, Public Relations and Information of NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, on Tuesday in Abuja.

Mutfwang made the call on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the NAF Headquarters in Abuja, where he met with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke.

He congratulated Aneke on his appointment as the 23rd CAS and commended the Air Force for its sustained efforts in maintaining peace and responding to security threats in Plateau.

The governor described the security environment as complex, noting the prevalence of asymmetric threats, emphasising the need for sustained cooperation, especially during festive and farming seasons when tensions often escalate.

He reaffirmed the Plateau Government’s readiness to support NAF operations, adding that effective security required close coordination between federal and state authorities.

Responding, Air Marshal Aneke reiterated the NAF’s commitment to building a “highly motivated, professional and mission-ready force” capable of delivering decisive airpower in support of joint operations.

He highlighted the Air Force’s contributions to peace and stability in Plateau through intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, air mobility support and collaboration with sister services.

The CAS thanked the Plateau State Government for providing a conducive environment for NAF personnel and operations, assuring continued intelligence-driven and professional support to enhance security in the state.

Both leaders agreed to deepen cooperation through capability development, optimised training and a whole-of-government approach to security aimed at safeguarding lives and promoting sustainable development. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
