Plateau LG boss installs 450 solar streetlights in communities

Tunkus (Plateau), Jan. 5, 2026 (NAN) The Chairman of Mikang Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau, Dr Bernard Alkali, has installed 450 solar-powered streetlights in communities within the locality.
Alkali told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, that the move is part of the “Light Up Mikang” initiative of his administration.
According to him, the project aims at improving security, night life, economic activities, and enhancing serenity in the locality.
He noted that the project also aims at fostering sustainable development.
“This initiave aligns with our broader agenda which focuses on strengthening infrastructure, promoting public safety, and improving the quality of life of our people,”Alkali said.
Alkali noted that the initiative demonstrates a practical commitment towards grassroots inclusion. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
