Two docked over alleged armed robbery, theft of N26m cows

Ijebu-Ode (Ogun)Dec.11, 2025(NAN)Two men, Aliyu Umaru,20, and Yusuf Ibrahim,26, were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ijebu Ode Magistrate Court over alleged armed robbery and theft of 10 cows worth N26 million.
The defendants whose address were  not provided, are facing a two count charge of armed robbery and stealing.
The Police Prosecuting Counsel, Barr. Solomon Babalola told the court earlier that the defendants committed the offence between June 16 and 17 at about 4:30 a.m.
He added that the offence was committed at Tojok Heritage Farm behind Iworo Health centre, Iworo Ijebu in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of the state
Babalola said the defendants conspired among themselves and entered into the farm to rob and steal 10 cows valued N26 million belonging to one Mr Toyin Bakre.
He explained that the defendant stole the cows at gunpoint while armed with offensive weapons like guns and cutlasses.
The prosecutor said the offences committed contravened section 6(b) and punishable under section 1(2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision CAP RII laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004.
He also said the offence is punishable under section 16(1)(b) of the Prohibition of Forcible Occupation of Landed Properties, Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Cultism and and other Anti-violence and other Related Offences Laws of Ogun State 2016.
The Magistrate, Mr Ibukun Orekoya ordered that the duo be remanded in the correctional service centre pending advise from the Directorate of Public Prosecution(DPP).
Orekoya thereafter, adjourned the case until Feb. 25, 2026 for hearing(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
