Asaba, Dec. 16, 2025 (NAN)Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has called on Nigerians to be ambassadors of peace for the development of the country.
Oborevwori made the call on Tuesday while speaking at the inter-denominational Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols organised by the State government in Asaba.
The governor, represented by his Deputy, Mr Monday Onyeme, urged Nigerians to carry the message of Christmas to their homes, communities and workplaces.
“Let us be ambassadors of peace, love, and forgiveness, remembering that the light of Christ must shine through our daily lives.
“As Governor of Delta State, I see in this festival a reflection of what we can achieve when we work together in harmony, just as different voices blend into sound, our diversity when united becomes our greatest strength.
“In the past months, by the grace of God and with your prayers and support, our administration has continued to record steady progress across Delta State.
“We have invested in critical infrastructure, improved access to healthcare and education, strengthened peace and security, and managed our resources with prudence and accountability.
“Guided by our MORE Agenda, we remain committed to meaningful development, opportunities for all, and reform that is realistic and sustainable.
“Looking ahead, our vision is clear: a peaceful, united, and prosperous Delta State where development reaches every community and no one is left behind.
“As we rejoice in His birth, I pray that the joy of Christmas will fill every heart, the peace of Christ will reign in every home, and the love of God will continue to bind us together.”
Rev Lucky Osagbakhoe, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Delta State Chapter in his sermon said Christmas is a season for worship and a season to show love to one another.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that prayers were offered for Nigeria, Delta State, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori and those in positions of authority.
Those who took lessons at the festival include Sir Monday Onyeme, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, Mr Pat Ajudua, Prof. Epiphany Azinge (SAN) and Rev. Oke Akokotu.(NAN)(www.nannews.com.ng)
