Awka, Dec. 19, 2025 (NAN) The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed no fewer than 2,000 personnel, including regular and special marshals, to manage traffic and ensure road safety in Anambra during the yuletide.

The Sector Commander of FRSC in the state, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhuno, disclosed this to newsmen on Friday.

Asekhauno spoke after a visit to the Onitsha Area Commander of the Nigerian Police Force, ACP Chidi Nzota.

She said the visit was part of proactive efforts by the command to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies.

According to her, the initiative is aimed at enhancing traffic management and public safety before, during and after the festive season.

“We discussed strategies to reduce anticipated traffic congestion along major corridors, including the Niger Bridge, the Second Niger Bridge and key routes within Onitsha.

“Working in synergy with other agencies is key to achieving seamless traffic flow and ensuring a safe environment for all road users,” she said.

The sector commander said the command had mobilised 2,000 personnel to strategic locations.

Asekhauno said that tow trucks had also been positioned to promptly clear obstructions, while ambulances were on standby to provide quick rescue services.

She solicited the continuous support of the police to complement FRSC operations

According to her, joint efforts are critical to the success of the end-of-year traffic management plan.

Asekhuno urged motorists and other road users to cooperate with traffic officials to ensure smooth vehicular movement throughout the festive period.

“I also advise the public to call the FRSC toll-free emergency number, 122, in case of any emergency,” she said.

In his response, Nzota assured the FRSC of the full support of the Nigerian Police Force.

He pledged the deployment of officers to work alongside FRSC personnel to ensure a safer driving environment during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.(NAN) www.nannews.ng
