Benin, Dec. 25, 2025 (NAN) Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, has urged Nigerians to remain optimistic about the coming year in spite of prevailing national challenges.

Ize-Iyamu spoke on Wednesday, at the hospital’s Nine Lessons and Carols Night and End-of-Year Party for staff and students in Benin.

She expressed confidence that the new year would bring improvement for individuals and institutions alike.

According to her, enduring hope can only be sustained through faith in Christ, whom she described as the true source of strength amid economic and social difficulties confronting the country.

“UBTH cares, just as Christ cares; When you have Christ, you have hope,” she said

She added that the season symbolised renewed faith, joy and transformation.

The CMD commended staff, students and management for their support during her first four months in office, assuring them that the years ahead would present greater opportunities for growth and service.

She reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to excellence and professionalism, and expressed optimism that UBTH would continue to deliver quality healthcare while improving lives.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the celebration culminated in a visit to hospital wards, where the CMD alongside management, staff and students, distributed gifts to patients and newborns. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
