Speaking at a family planning outreach in Ilorin East on Thursday, Muhammad explained that the programme aims to expand knowledge, address misconceptions, and support community members in making healthier reproductive choices that improve.
Muhammad said the initiative focused on empowering families with accurate information, encouraging men to actively participate in reproductive decision-making, and fostering supportive environments that reduced misinformation while promoting positive attitudes toward family planning.
He emphasised that eliminating myths surrounding family planning was essential for reducing maternal and infant mortality, improving health outcomes, and strengthening community resilience through informed reproductive choices supported by evidence-based guidance.
Family Planning Focal Person Mrs Jatto Bashirat, said that the dialogue supported ongoing efforts under the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative to improve access to reproductive health services.
She commended residents for their willingness to learn, noting that improved understanding of family planning empowered individuals to make informed decisions that enhanced personal wellbeing, strengthened families, and contributed to healthier living.
Ilorin East Family Planning Coordinator, Hajia Mopelola Balogun, highlighted that family planning required joint commitment, emphasising that shared decision-making between spouses strengthened household stability, improved health outcomes, and fostered stronger social.
Community Chairman, Alhaji Jimoh Olona, expressed appreciation to the state government and partners, stating that the sensitisation would guide families toward healthier decisions and encouraging residents to embrace the information shared. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
