Stealing

Ibadan, Jan.9, 2026 (NAN) A 25-year-old man, Awakaria Anise, on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly stealing chickens worth N175,000.
Anise, whose address was not provided, was charged with malicious damage, stealing and unlawful strangling of chickens.
He, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Owolabi told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan.7, at about 9.30 p.m., at Panorama Poultry farm, Idu-Ayunre, Ibadan .
He alleged that the defendant strangled seven chickens worth N175,000, belonging to the aforementioned farm, with the intent to sell them.
He also alleged that the defendant damaged the poultry farm worth N500,000, in the bid to gain access.
He said the offences contravened provisions of Sessions 390(9), 451 and 495 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Oladele granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Jan. 31, for hearing. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
