Abuja, Dec. 23, 2025 (NAN) Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 55,000 officers and men to safeguard lives and Critical National Asset and Infrastructure (CNAI) in the country before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The NSCDC Spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

He quoted the NSCDC Commandant-General (CG), Ahmed Audi, as saying “the massive deployment is in a bid to ensure public safety and improve insecurity across the country.”

He also said that the deployment was necessary to enhance the security architecture of the nation, as criminal-minded persons utilised festive periods to carry out sinister and unscrupulous activities.

He emphasised that security threats like banditry, kidnapping, farmer-herder clashes, terrorism and insurgency would be effectively tackled if citizens provided credible intelligence that would lead to arrest of criminals.‎

He said “it is imperative for the public to trust and collaborate with us by giving credible and timely information to enable us to act swiftly to prevent crimes, rather than being reactive.

‎“Our unwavering commitment is to ensure safe and secure environment and that can only be possible when there is public support for security agencies.

“We assure you of our readiness to work in synergy with sister security agencies to ensure safety and peace for development to thrive.”

The NSCDC boss directed Zonal Commanders to monitor the commands under their formations, while State Commandants are to coordinate Area Commands, Divisional Offices and other formations.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
